Mobile Operation Case Study

The attached photo slideshow below is of an actual mobile surveillance operation conducted by Trident Investigators for a retail company. The driver of the Blue VW Passat was a Commercial Contract Manager in the Midlands whose role it was to look after large corporate customers in the Midlands area. His client portfolio was worth several million pounds per year.

Bosses were concerned at the lack of performance of the Manager who seemed to be completing a high mileage in his company Passat, yet many of his regular and most important clients had not received a visit in weeks.

Company Directors authorised a surveillance and Trident Investigations were called in to conduct an operation over a week. A motorcycle operative, mobile team and a static team were engaged.

On the day in question the Manager was supposed to be working from home completing his monthly report for his Company Directors. What followed was a follow from the East Midlands to the South West where the Manager was seen visiting the premises of a competitor company.

The Manager was required to submit his weekly schedule of movements to his seniors. This was matched to our surveillance reports, video and photographs. Our surveillance photographs are digitally timed and taken at key points in the journey with recognisable landmarks to verify the location. In this case route signage.

Following our reports the manager was suspended the next day. A scheduled disciplinary was set for a future date. The Manager has since left the company.

Mobile Surveillance

In all cases we recommend that a minimum of two operatives are used although we are happy to undertake assignments using a single operative on the understanding that the client accepts that in surveillance cases, particularly when only one investigator is used, there can be losses.

If a loss occurs, the investigator(s) will endeavour to locate the subject but under normal circumstances, but we will cease the surveillance within an hour of the loss and the client will only be charged on a time and line basis for that day.
