21 Day Fix

Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve reviewed anything. There were the holidays and then my mum had some health issues but we’re getting back into our normal routines here.

Part of our normal routine now involves getting healthy.  It was our new year’s goal, as was the rest of the world’s I’m sure.  We’ve been at it a few months now and it is NOT easy!  We did a lot of research and decided to purchase the 21 Day Fix Program.  We heard a lot of great things about it and found a coach, bought the program and joined a challenge group.  The picture above shows what we received. Electrician Service

Update: Still loving our nutri-bullet and using it every day!

So on to my next review. This review is more service oriented instead of product related.  My sweet, yet completely clueless mother had this crazy stuff going on in her house. I’m English. I don’t like ghosts. I’m the minority in England when it comes to paranormal love. Anyhow, she had this crazy electrical stuff going on and I told her she needed an electrician asap since I was suspicious of ghosts.  So she rolled her eyes and called a local electrician who called himself a “master”. I guess that means he know his stuff.

We gave him a long to-do list. She basically had a stairway light that would turn on whenever it damn well pleased….off too.  So it wouldn’t turn off and it wouldn’t turn on via the switch…only of it’s own accord. Also, we had a light in the dining room on a dimmer that no matter what you did with the switch…would stay on.  Then she had some outlets in her bedroom that would shut off completely if you turned on a hair blower.  She had been going outside to the breaker box every time she needed to dry her hair.  She also had a fan that was on some kind of multi-switch and the light worked but the fan wouldn’t. Lastly, she had so many switches that made fizzing sounds.  It was scary!  It’s a good thing I moved in with her when I did or her house could have burned down completely. Have you ever seen an electrical list so long? Her house isn’t even that old!  So this electrician comes out and he’s really nice and has this strong southern accent (we basically could barely understand each other), and he set about to fix all of the things on our list.  I think he actually fixed every single item and even had to replace the fan and the stairway light.  It’s a good thing he did the stairway light because there’s no way on this earth I could have ever done it.  How in the world is someone expected to change a light bulb two stories up over a stairway?  He did a great job though, which is why I’m reviewing for him. Lexington Electrician Service was top notch. So if anyone of my readers ever resides in the South Carolina area, you can look them right on up.

Hoping that from here on out we can avoid any more costly home repairs!

Magic Bullet by NutriBullet

I’m in the states!! Just thought you’d like to know.  It’s beautiful here and much more hot 🙂  If you’re lost right now, click here.

Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I’ll share my next review with you.  I’m reviewing my mother’s Magic Bullet by NutriBullet.  It’s the 600 watt version.  These are a mixture of my thoughts AND hers.

My thoughts: I LOVE this appliance.

Her thoughts: I LOVE this appliance.

Five stars from both of us.  She uses it every day and now I do too.  What a great day to get veggies and fruits in!  I like to add protein powder to mine and she adds in some kind of aging women’s vitamins.  Anyway, works great to get you healthy on the go!  Prep time on this is super fast and clean up is practically zilch!  I rinse out the cup and the blade and set them upside down for the next use. Now, flax seeds are hard to rinse out so unless you really really love flax, don’t go there.  I used to have a blender and it was such a pain to clean – this is a dream.  It pulverizes seeds like you wouldn’t believe…coffee beans – no problem!

The power on this thing is great.  My mother has had it for a year already and it’s still going strong.  Carrots, apples, seeds, ice…it all comes out smooth as soup with no problem!  It’s also so compact, it barely takes any space on the counter top at all!

These shakes keep you satisfied for hours and they also keep you “regular” if you know what I mean.

The cups come in large and small and honestly, we only use the large.  Wish they would give you more of those.  My mother actually just ordered the colossal size.  She also ordered another blade. The blades seem to dull after about 5-6 months of use but they’re not that expensive to replace so it’s not something she minds doing.

I’ve started using this every day now. My favorite combinations are bananas, peanut butter and chocolate protein powder.  Mango, pineapple and avocado is great too.  Avocado will make anything much thicker so use it sparingly!  Spinach in almost everything works well.  The spinach greens it up but you can’t taste it. My mother put kale in hers the other day and I thought it was terrible.  Too bitter.

If you want to try a cleanse, this would be perfect.  I’ve already lost quite a bit of weight and feel much healthier.

I recommend anyone to try this!

Polar A360

Still busy packing over here. If you missed the last post, I’m moving to the US soon. I’ll be reviewing products and services in the states starting next week!! Looking forward to it! I kind of love new beginnings. She’s undergoing a big project right now too so I may be reviewing on her asphalt paving service in Columbia soon enough! I’ll be coming to a new home with a beautiful new driveway…hopefully!

For now, I’d like to review a product I’ve had for about 6 months now. It’s the Polar A360 fitness band.polar-a360-white-cardiofitness-de

I love this band.  It has all kinds of amazing features.  First off, it’s waterproof!!  I shower with it, swim with it, wash dishes with it – I love that I don’t have to worry about water.  It’s been getting wet for 6 months and still going strong!

Second, it has a built-in heart rate monitor so that you don’t have to wear one of those annoying bands around your chest.  The A360 can deliver on the spot BPM readings.

The polar A360 has a beautiful touch screen display.  I love the sleek yet simple look of it. It’s bright for night time but you can still see the screen fine during the day. Display details can be chosen to compliment your liking.  You can have a clock face, a vertical time, a horizontal time, a military time – lots of options. People think I’m wearing an apple watch but no, it’s just my fitness band.  It has settings for running, walking, group exercise, strength training, sleep tracking and more.  It also keeps track of the calories you’ve burned. The screen responsiveness works really well too…even when you’re wet.

It also gives you smart phone notifications. You can see when a message comes in or a call or email.  But as far as the messages go, you can only see a blip. You have to grab your phone to respond.  But at least you can see if you need to take that message or call though.

It syncs up with MyFitnessPal’s app. I love that app and I love that I can keep track on my caloric intake and the band will tell it how much I’ve burned after exercise and deduct it from my daily count.

Charging is pretty easy.  The back of the face has a clip off section that allows you to plug the charger in.  I wear it 24/7 and only need to charge it once a week if not less.

Lastly, there’s an inactivity alert that tells you when you need to start moving.  I work at my computer all day and it reminds me every hour or so.  At the end of the day, you see all your activity and inactivity.

A360 isn’t the best heart rate tracker out there as far as accuracy goes, but overall I’d recommend this device to anyone looking for a sleek, comfortable and waterproof fitness tracker.

Big news!  As I’m starting my new blogging venture, I’ll be starting another new venture even more exciting.  I’m headed to the states for a long long holiday to help my sweet mother out.  She’s getting older and a bit needy!  I’m an only child and so I feel like I should probably go and be near her.  So South Carolina here I come!  Looking forward to it actually.  I hear they have beautiful beaches and lots of history. I’ll probably be living with her for a time as I decide if and where I want to stay permanently.

Anyhow, now that I’ve broken that exciting bit of news, on to my next review…

Norwex body cloths.  Let me start by saying I love Norwex products!  The fact that I can clean without chemicals is huge to me.  I’ve found that harsh chemicals affect my health and skin.  Their Envirocloth and Spirisponge are my favorite products.  I also love their Body cloth which I was told lasts about 2 years.  I haven’t used soap in a year!!  Now, I know that sounds disgusting but it cleans your skin quite well and leaves it as smooth as a baby’s bum!  The only problem…it doesn’t seem to last 2 years.  My cloths lose their soft quality in about 2 months time.  They get a bit scratchy and have hurt at times when I’m scrubbing an area with a mole or whatnot.  I’ve been told to soak it in their detergent to bring it back to life but it doesn’t work.  I’ve ended up buying new cloths 2-3 times per year.  Still trying to decide if it’s worth it to me or not.

Back to my favorite products without a negative note. I would recommend their envirocloth and spirisponges to anyone.  The spirisponge scrubs all the pots and pans and china without scratching, so it’s fantastic for non-stick items!  I stock up on them!  The envirocloth is just a great cleaning cloth period.  You can use it wet or dry.  When using it wet, just rinse and wring it and let it dry. You can use it forever and it never gets smelly.  I wash it about once every 2 weeks. It’s great for cleaning up oil and grease in the kitchen.  One swipe will get it all up with no trace!  I would also recommend their kitchen towels.  They are the best towels for drying that I’ve ever tried.  They leave no trace of water at all in just one pass.  I use them every day and can wash a whole kitchen full of items and the towel still dries great by the last dish!  Overall, Norwex makes great products.  I just wish I knew what was causing my body cloths to lose that soft microfiber feel so quickly.  If anyone knows, please holler!

Food Sealers

All right?  In my first post I explained what I’m up to. If you didn’t catch it…click here.

Up first is a Food Sealer from the states.  So I buy fresh chicken off a co-workers farm and then freeze it.  I’ve been eyeing food sealers for quite some time but most were not my cup of least for the prices.  Well my mum fixed that problem!  She lives in the states and is quite addicted to amazon.  She found one she thought sounded good and sent it to me for my birthday.  You can find it here.  It’s a FoodSaver FM2435.

Needless to say I was gobsmacked that she knew just what I had wanted.  I swear I never said a word.  Mums just know these things.

I took it out straight away and found anything I could to seal up.  I started with their ready to use zipper bags.  I put some frozen dough balls in them and zipped them up.  Then I used the attachment on the bag and hit the power button and Bob’s your uncle!  It sucked all the air out and stopped on it’s own when it was done. LOVED THAT.  More grub, more sealing, more love.  The thing about the zipper bags is that you can open them, take what you need and reclose and reseal!

It also comes with rolls that you can create your own bag from.  You just cut it to size and seal one end.  Again, so bloody simple.

It’s got a sleek look and stays on my counter all the time.  I use it nearly every day and not just on food!

This takes the biscuit and I’d recommend it to anyone.  5 stars!
